Choosing a basin
Measure the space. Basins run from compact 350mm cloakroom basins to 850mm and wider. Check the width and the projection from the wall, and leave room to stand in front of the basin.
Tap holes. A basin with one tap hole takes a mono mixer, two take pillar taps and three take a 3 tap hole mixer. Basins with no tap hole need a wall mounted tap, or a high rise mixer on the worktop beside a countertop bowl.
Overflow and waste. Basins with an overflow need a slotted waste; basins without one need an unslotted waste. Add a bottle trap in a matching finish where the pipework is on show.
